6 Ways to Overcome an Itchy Vagina at Home

This is important to do so that vaginal itching does not get worse. In addition, there are other ways to deal with vaginal itching that you can also do at home, namely:

1. Avoid irritants

One way to deal with vaginal itching is to avoid using products, such as special vaginal cleaning soaps with irritating ingredients, such as perfumes, parabens, or dyes. This is because the content can trigger irritation of the vagina, causing the vagina to become itchy.

In addition, also avoid washing the vagina too often with soap and do not put water mixed with soap into the vaginal opening, because this condition can actually trigger a vaginal infection.

2. Cold compress the vaginal area

To relieve itching that appears in the vagina, compress the area outside the vagina using a cold compress. The method is also very easy, you only need to wrap ice cubes with a cloth or soak a towel in a container of cold water, then place it in the vaginal area.

Compress for 10 minutes or until the itching subsides. However, make sure you keep your vagina dry afterwards.

3. Use oatmeal in the shower

The next way to deal with an itchy vagina is to take a bath using oatmeal. Oatmeal is considered to be able to relieve inflammation of the skin so that it can reduce itching and irritation.

How to take a bath using oatmeal is quite easy, you only need to dissolve enough oatmeal in a bath filled with warm water, then soak for 20 minutes. Please note that the benefits of this oatmeal bath can be obtained if you use colloidal oatmeal instead of the usual oatmeal consumed.

4. Use baking soda in the shower

In addition to oatmeal, bathing with baking soda is also believed to be able to overcome vaginal itching, especially those caused by yeast infections. This is because baking soda has antifungal properties.

To take a baking soda bath, you only need to add or 2 cups of baking soda to the bath. Next, stir until the baking soda dissolves and soak in the water for 10–40 minutes.

5. Apply coconut oil to the vagina

A study revealed that coconut oil can kill the fungus Candida albicans, which is one of the fungi that can cause infection and trigger vaginal itching.

You only need to apply coconut oil to the vaginal skin area sufficiently, then use a pad so that the coconut oil does not leave marks on the underwear you are wearing. You are recommended to use virgin coconut oil to treat vaginal itching complaints.

6. Apply honey to the vagina

The last way to deal with vaginal itching is to apply honey to the itchy vaginal skin area. Honey is known to be antibacterial, so it can relieve vaginal itching caused by bacterial infections.
